Dr. Bissell specializes in orthopedic sports medicine focusing on arthroscopic and open surgery of the Shoulder, Elbow, Hip, and Knee. He is a member of the Connecticut Sports Medicine Institute (CMSI) at St. Francis and performs joint replacements at the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute (CJRI) at St. Francis. As a surgeon, Dr. Bissell specializes  in performing rotator cuff repairs, shoulder instability surgery, knee ACL reconstructions, patellar instability surgery, and meniscus repairs. He frequently sees patients for second opinions. He has a specialty interest in treating clavicle fractures.

Dr. Bissell cares for a wide variety of injuries, including:

Jennessa Battaini, PA-C

Jennessa Battaini, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant at Advanced Orthopedics New England, where she works alongside Dr. Scott Bissell providing comprehensive orthopedic care. She specializes in sports medicine, orthopedic spine conditions, and the management of general orthopedic concerns across all age populations, from adolescents to older adults. Jennessa has a particular interest in caring for student athletes and helping them safely return to peak performance.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Elon University, followed by her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Her educational background in exercise science enhances her approach to musculoskeletal care, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.

Jennessa is a professional member of the Connecticut Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care and building strong relationships with the individuals and families she serves.

Originally from Massachusetts, Jennessa enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, teaching group fitness classes and anything that involves being active—especially during the summer months. Her passion for movement and wellness extends beyond the clinic and informs her holistic approach to patient care.
