Foot and Ankle Care

Foot and ankle problems may not be as severe as some other orthopedic conditions, but they can be just as painful and annoying.  Aging, nerve damage, poor blood circulation, diabetes, and infection leading to ulcers, sores, or deformities are the most frequent causes of foot and ankle problems.

Your feet and ankles can also be vulnerable to fractures, sprains, and a variety of sports or traumatic injuries, such as heel pain and plantar fasciitis.

Board-certified and fellowship-trained Dr. Amanda Fantry, at Advanced Orthopedics New England, offers a broad range of treatments for common foot and ankle problems such as arthritis, bunions, and hammertoes, as well as more complex hindfoot deformities, sports injuries including ankle sprains, joints fractures, Achilles’ tendon injuries, and any fractures or trauma.

If necessary, Dr. Fantry also uses the latest technology to replace severely affected ankle joints with artificial implants that restore pain-free mobility.

If you have diabetes, it is important to have your feet regularly examined as diabetes can affect circulation and the structures of your feet. Problems stemming from diabetic foot can range from numbness, pain, swelling, and infection to deformity and skin wounds that won’t heal. You should have your diabetic foot problems treated sooner rather than later.
